These past two weeks have been a blur.
With my new job in full swing (lots of exciting details on that later), paired with a Tuesday night kickball league, weekend visitors, and summer vacations quickly piling up, the days just seem to come and go in the blink of an eye. I sometimes get so wrapped up in the fact that I’m busy that I forget to realize how everything is changing around me, all for the better. It wasn’t until earlier this week, while stopping for a mid-afternoon Thai tea at one of my favorite spots, that it really sunk in. For me, it’s been the little things.

As mentioned previously, I have a new gig, which of course means a new commute in the morning. Rather than taking the dreaded cross-traffic left turn out of our apartment, I’m now taking a right. I’m sure it sounds silly to you, but this change in drive offers me an entirely different look at the city. While it may take a bit longer, I get to relax for thirty quiet minutes, sip my coffee, and take in the beautiful surroundings just outside my window.
There’s a winding road that wraps around some of the largest saguaro cacti I’ve ever seen, all of which lead up to the soft, sun-kissed mountains of Paradise Valley. There’s some random, hot pink stucco restaurant with lime green awnings that sits all my its lonesome on the corner of Osborn. There’s even a house completely engulfed by flowers, vines, and rusted out street signs. Seriously, I can’t even tell you what the actual color of it is.
Of course, there are the bigger changes as well. In less than a year and a half, I’ve graduated college, moved from Iowa to Arizona, began my career, met an amazing group of people, launched this very blog that you’re currently reading, bopped around to three different apartments, accepted a dream offer, and am now meeting another fantastic group of people in doing so. This is my life and as crazy as it can get sometimes, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m on one hell of a ride and I have no intentions of getting off it anytime soon!
While we’re on the topic of change, Andrew turns the big 2-6 this coming Monday. What better way to celebrate than with some new outings? Starting this evening, we’re drawing a couple “have to try” restaurants out from our raffle, as well as hiking the Cholla trail of Camelback on Sunday.
What about you? Are there any fun changes happening in your life right now, big or small?
